FonTelPhone call recorders
The recorders are able to distinguish between the outgoing and incoming calls, identify the caller's number and the outgoing call's number dialed in a touch-tone system, they also support MSN numbers.3. All the details of the recorded calls, such as date, hour, duration and description are stored in a database. Each recording is saved in a separate compressed sound file (.WAV files). Thanks to the option of volume level detection it is possible to record automatically not only the calls proceeding from regular telephones, but these performed on radio phones, radio stations and other devices equipped with an audio output as well.
Uses
How does it work? The recorder consists of two parts: a device that connects phone lines with a PC and a program that saves the calls to the PC. The program works independently in the background. It detects the line's number by itself, as well as the beginning and the end of call, its direction and the number dialed. It stores all this information in a database, and saves the recorded contents of call to a compressed sound file.Features and capabilities
Program capabilitiesThe call recording application allows for a comfortable browsing, searching and listening to the recorded calls, as well as adding notes and comments. Oldest recordings can be automatically removed as a determined period expires, or the disc space is full. This makes the list of recorded calls easy to print, or save to a text file, taking into account any of the selection criteria: phone line number, day, month, phone number.
The excellent sound quality of the calls recorded is provided by means of full galvanic separation between the phone line and the PC, as well as the hardware and software filters that correct the sound timbre and the differences between the speech volume of both interlocutors.
Thanks to the caller's number references in the phone book and the call's base, even before the phone is answered, the program displays a short information about the caller. This information includes the caller's personal information (if the caller appears in the phone book), the duration and subject of the last talk to this number, the number zone (voievodship, according to Poland's old administrative division, or the name of the GSM network) and the caller's carrier name. This information is displayed in one of the screen's bottom corners, even if the program is hidden and is working in the background.
The access to the whole program or its selected functions can be protected with a password. There can be different access levels assigned to different users, depending on their competences and range of obligations. It is also possible to hide the call recording software completely so as to make the call recording software undetectable, the calls archive can be also protected at operating system level. The program allows to create any statistical views of the calls recorded, displaying them according to duration, or the number of connections. It also offers the possibility to generate an archive backup copy saving it directly to a CD or DVD,2 as well as it allows to browse the archive copies smoothly. Networking
Depending on the settings, it is possible to access the list of calls only, or the sound recordings, too. Remote access to the program can be protected with a password against unauthorized users. The database of calls and the sound files can be located on the disc or a network resource. This allows for a central recording of calls on various computers connected to form a network. VersionsFonTel recorder has 4 versions that differ according to the type and number of the phone lines supported as well as the way it is connected to the PC:
InstallationFonTel consist of one of several modules connected parallelly to the phone line and a program that records the calls on a PC. It is not necessary to intervene into the existing phone infrastructure - it is just enough to connect the recorder to any phone socket available, parallelly to the phone. This also means the recorder can be located in any place, as it does not have to remain in the direct proximity to the phone. It does not interfere with the work of the phone or any other device connected to the phone line.
Connecting FonTel L1USB/L2USB/L4USB recorder to an available phone socket
If there is no socket available, a regular phone splitter should be used.
Connecting FonTel L1USB / L2USB / L4USB recorder with a phone splitter
In the case of FonTel ISDN recorder the installation consists of connecting the recorder to one of the NT1 network terminator's S0 ports - just like the ISDN telephones. If none of the ports is available, one of the connected devices shall be unplugged, the recorder shall be plugged instead and the disconnected device shall be plugged to the recorder's suitable socket. No matter what the recorder connection is, the recorder records all the calls performed on all the telephones connected to a specific network terminator.
Connecting FonTel ISDN recorder
FonTel does not require any power supply. The recorder is connected to the PC by the USB port only. All the necessary cables are included in the package.
Essential! If you consider buying a phone call recorder, please make sure you choose one that is up to your standard:
OrderIn order to purchase the recorder please fill in the order form. You can also place the order by phone, or send it by email or fax.All our customers obtain access to free of charge upgrades of our software, which is constantly developed and extended with new functions. Answers to most frequently asked questionsIs it possible to record calls performed on ISDN telephones/lines?FonTel ISDN recorder works directly with digital ISDN lines. It fully supports a 2B+D line, recording all the calls performed on all the telephones connected.
All the other recorders are designed to work with analogue lines. If there are analogue telephones connected to network terminator NT1, it is possible to connect FonTel L1USB / L2USB / L4USB recorders to their respective phone lines.
Each call is saved in a separate .WAV sound file. The name of this file contains the line's number, call's date and starting time. Before it is saved, the call is compressed, to reduce the space it takes on the disc. For GSM 6.10 compression one hour talk takes 8MB approximately.
The recorded calls files are grouped into folders named by dates. For example, a folder named 2004-03-16 contains all the calls recorded on the 16th of March 2004. The calls archive can be located on any selected local or network disc.
Radio phone calls recording takes place thanks to the volume level recording release. It is enough to connect the recorder to the radio phone headphones socket and adjust a suitable volume threshold. If it is exceeded, the recording begins automatically. It also ends automatically, after a piece of silence long enough.
While recording the call to a sound file, FonTel program stores in a database the information about the phone line's number, as well as starting time, duration and direction of call. It also saves the number that was dialed for the outgoing call and the name of the sound file. This information are displayed as list, and it is possible to add individual notes for each call, search the calls by note and number, filter them by date and the type of call. It is also possible to print views of lists of calls.
In case of the analogue lines, it is necessary to activate a special service provided by the carrier. Downloads

In order to identify caller's number it is necessary to have a suitable service activated by the carrier.
2 It is possible to save the archive copies to a CD/DVD directly from the FonTel recorder program if NERO software (version 5.5 or higher) produced by Ahead is installed. NERO software is usually attached to CD and DVD burners. |
